Brinker Team winner and runner-up in 2003 INTEX awards.
On April 29th, 2003, the Brinker Team received public recognition for their quality workmanship on the following projects completed in 2002; Ford Field Stadium, Henry Ford Museum and the Paragon Building.
The INTEX Achievement Award is sponsored by the Architectural Contractors Industry Fund in conjunction with other corporate sponsors who differ from year to year. The INTEX awards began in 1995 to acknowledge outstanding achievement in Interior & Exterior construction projects, the INTEX Achievement Award is open to all union contractors. The ACT Promotion Committee and a panel of architects judge the projects. Criteria for the award include aesthetics, workmanship, difficulty of installation and scope of work.
The Henry Ford Museum was the surprise winner of the night as there were many wonderful projects competing in the renovation category. Mr. Tom Sheppard, the project manage for the museum renovations, was delighted to receive the prestigious INTEX award on behalf of the Brinker Team. Mr. Sheppard pointed out that the temperature conditions were very challenging as the moisture in the existing ceilings were causing the plaster to flake and fall off. He attributed the overall success of the project to his fellow team players and their quality craftsmanship. The Brinker Team had to mold and cast original ornamental plaster work on the walls and ceilings in order to reproduce the missing and broken pieces. The new molds were then keyed to the ceiling and walls in keeping with the original shape and design. The window casings and door frames were also restored to their original splendor.

The Brinker Team was delighted to have the Paragon Building project achieve finalist position in the special project category. This project was especially difficult due to the fact that it was once an automotive building that had been neglected for the best part of a century. The design of the building was created by Neumann / Smith & Associates and the General Contractor was L.S. Brinker Company. The Brinker Team worked with the Neumann / Smith to design the unique corridors with the mushroom shaped columns to give the building a bright modern atmosphere. Mr. Chuck Zurawski, the Project Manager for the project, said that restoring such an old unique building was both a challenge and a delight as it provided wonderful opportunities for him to develop the unique innovative designs.
